The United Democratic Party commits to:

1.
Improve health facilities and introduce schemes to protect the vulnerable.
2.
Upgrade basic social services and provide health insurance and pension schemes.
3.
Formulate and implement appropriate and effective healthcare financing policies that would revamp and strengthen cost recovery programs.
4.
Ensure equitable and rational staffing of all facilities, decentralize and divest management and administrative responsibilities to the Regional Health Teams (RHTs) to facilitate efficient healthcare delivery outside the Greater Banjul Area.
5.
Promote research and innovation through partnerships with medical institutions.
6.
Improve maternal healthcare and reduce maternal, neonatal and childhood morbidity and mortality.
7.
Encourage private sector participation in health care delivery.
8.
Revamp the pay and conditions of service of the Health Care sector workers in order to encourage, attract and retain talent in the sector.
9.
Prepare and implement a pandemic containment strategy/plan as part of a state-of-the-art public healthcare delivery system supported by a state-of-the-art research and laboratory services.
10.
Prepare and implement a comprehensive social protection scheme which will provide the services and support needed to citizens during a pandemic.
