Kemeseng Jammeh is a veteran Gambian politician, founding member, and prominent stalwart of the United Democratic Party (UDP). He served as the National Assembly Member for Jarra West and later as Minority Leader during the repressive regime of former President Yahya Jammeh.

For decades, Kemeseng Jammeh stood firmly against authoritarian rule and remained a committed voice for democracy, human rights, and political freedom in The Gambia. His activism came at a great personal cost, including arrests and detention for his political convictions.

In 2016, he was imprisoned alongside UDP Party Leader H.E ANM Ousainu Darboe and other party members following a peaceful protest. Their detention became a defining moment in The Gambia’s struggle for democratic change and helped galvanize the opposition movement that ultimately led to the end of Yahya Jammeh’s 22-year rule later that year.

Following the political transition and the election of President Adama Barrow, Kemeseng Jammeh continued his service to the nation, and in November 2017, he was appointed The Gambia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Türkiye.

Your Excellency, thank you for your tremendous service to our country and to the United Democratic Party. Your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to democracy remain an important part of the UDP’s history.

Happy 30th Anniversary, Kemeseng Jammeh.
